Meet Sheryl

Sheryl Martin Acupuncturist | Lab coatI am a Licensed Acupuncturist with a doctorate in Chinese Medicine serving the Palm Desert community. I have been in practice for 30 years.

In addition I am a Registered Nurse of 40 years. My nursing background was in OB/GYN, and Orthopedics, so my specialties in acupuncture are in women’s health and chronic neck and back conditions.

I have taught at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, and the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I was the clinical director at the Johns Hopkins Integrative Medicine and Digestive Center and had hospital privileges as an acupuncturist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Maryland.  I served 6 years on the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture.

I currently serve on the editorial board for the Journal of Evidenced Based Integrative Medicine, a peer-reviewed medical journal.

I maintain a fairly large library of professional texts which I use as resource material for teaching and making handouts for my patients. Being an educator in Chinese Medicine, I enjoy teaching my patients about the principles of Chinese Medicine. If they have never had exposure to Chinese Medicine in the past, I spend some time teaching them how they are using the basic principles in their everyday lives, in an effort for them to better understand some of my treatment recommendations.
